Dr. Vivian H. Wright is Professor of Instructional Technology in the College of Education's Department of Educational Leadership, Policy, and Technology Studies at The University of Alabama. Vivian began as an Assistant Professor in 2001, received tenure and promotion to Associate Professor in 2007, and promotion to Professor in 2012.  

Dr. Wright has taught undergraduate and graduate level courses and has chaired and served on numerous dissertation and thesis committees. Additionally, she has helped initiate and develop projects such as Electronic Portfolios for the Preservice Teacher, Technology on Wheels, and the ongoing Master Technology Teacher (MTT) partnership. Dr. Wright’s research has focused on asynchronous learning, emerging technologies, and cyberbullying.  

She served as Executive Editor of the Journal of Interactive Online Learning and has co-authored two books and authored or co-authored over 50 papers and book chapters. Vivian received her college’s Academic Excellence Award in 2005 and the Nellie Rose McCrory Outstanding Commitment to Service Award in 2014, her university’s Outstanding Commitment in Teaching Award in 2009, and was co-recipient of the SIGTE Research Paper Award at the National Educational Computer Conference (currently ISTE) in 2005 and 2009.

In her spare time, Vivian enjoys collecting folk art, organizing student gatherings at conferences, and travel, travel, travel (depicted in the pictures below)!
